Briefing


  • Client’s enquiry.

  • Analysis of the project – type and purpose of the translation, deadline, method of delivery, preferred terminology, required software and other special requirements.

  • Can we take the project on? If not, we let the client know a.s.a.p.



Analysis of the text

  • Once the project has been taken on, the source text is checked for completeness. Perhaps a page is missing…

  • Is the text legible?



Research

  • Selection of a suitable translator. Reading of whole text to get a feel for it.

  • Selection of suitable reference material and/or compilation of a terminology list for new clients.

  • Clarification of all questions with the client’s project manager.

  • If required, source text will be adapted to suit the target market.



Translation

  • Writing in the required foreign language by a native speaker born in the target country.

  • Client-specific terminology is included during the translation phase.

  • Aim: A translation should never be identifiable as such.



Proof-reading

The text is checked for:

  • Orthographical completeness and accuracy.

  • Stylistic accuracy with respect to the target group. The client’s “corporate style“ is also adopted as much as possible.

  • Accuracy of content and terminology.

  • Any required alterations are carried out.




Delivery



  • By email, fax, post – laser printout, disk, CD.




Final briefing

  • Feedback from the client.

  • Should the source text be altered after the translation has been completed, the translation is altered to match the new source text.

  • If the translation has been processed further by the client (i.e. DTP), the sentence roll over and completeness of the text is checked by us.
